The area in front of the house is not particularly inviting. With just a few plants and a coherent concept, this can be changed

The design of the front garden was abandoned in a half-finished state. The narrow path made of concrete slabs is flanked by lawns with individual bushes. Overall, the whole thing looks quite conventional and uninspired. A less prominent location for the garbage can would also be desirable.

Suggestion 1: A courtyard garden on the doorstep

If the space in front of the house is limited, the garden must be well planned. The small front garden appears spacious if large, light tiles are laid – like in a courtyard. There is also space for a bench surrounded by plant pots.

Next to the front door, the rose tree ‘Heidetraum’ shines until autumn

The garbage cans fit to the left of the front door. The green frame is provided by beds lined with bricks on both sides, which extend to the sidewalk and allow a narrow entrance into the front garden. Narrow-crowned rowan trees set the tone here. Below them, white hydrangeas bloom on both sides throughout the summer . There is also space for a Deutzia in the right-hand bed. Its delicate pink and white flowers open in June/July. The evergreen ground cover Dickmännchen covers the open space all year round. In May, the robust, shade-tolerant species opens its short white flower candles.

A half-high privet hedge on the right-hand side provides privacy from the neighbor, and a dwarf privet hedge up to a maximum of one meter high borders the garden courtyard to the left. A striking feature in front of the house wall is the Clematis viticella ‘Kermesina’, which blooms red in summer and is planted in a pot.

Suggestion 2: Big appearance in a small space

Even without a complete redesign, you can change the green entrance hall. The shape of the flowerbed and the path remain the same, and with just a few plants, the entrance area gets a new look without appearing overloaded.

The entrance to the front garden is flanked by cherry laurel trees

Two evergreen cherry laurel standard trees greet visitors on the sidewalk. Below, the white periwinkle (Vinca minor ‘Alba’) covers the ground. The mock orange ‘Belle Etoile’, which blooms white in June/July, and the white rose standard tree ‘Schneewittchen’ fit well into the small garden. The ideal partner for sunny spots: purple lavender .

The remaining area is covered with a water-permeable mulch fleece and filled with gravel or chippings. This suppresses weed growth and allows people to walk across the area. Privet hedges mark the entrance area. The garbage cans are stored in a stainless steel box. The bed edging and stainless steel balls also match.
